Quite a scare!!

Yesterday Ed calls me around 11:00 and tells me that he heard there had been an explosion at the Duke plant at Straight. And that the girls' school had to be evacuated. I ran outside to look that direction and see if I could see any smoke or anything and about the time I came back inside the girls' teacher was calling the house. There had been a fire and small explosion at the plant. The school had been evacuated. They were a few miles from the school at the designated place for emergencies. Everyone was okay!! But school was cancelled for the rest of the day. I went over and picked up the girls and brought them home.

Luckily, no one at the school or the plant was injured. And even though I knew the girls were okay, I was scared to death driving over to pick them up. Ed was called to send one of his water trucks to the fire - just in case they needed it, but luckily, the fire was contained and allowed to burn itself out and the truck Ed sent out was not needed.

The girls were a little disappointed that it ruined their day at school - it was Young Reader's Day and all the students and teachers wore their pajamas to school. They had all be laying around on blankets and bean bags reading and having popcorn and hot chocolate when they had to evacuate. I'm sure the local fire fighters and emergency people got a good chuckle out of all the kids and teachers running out of the school in their pajamas!! lol

November already!

Where does the time go? lol

This is a fairly busy month. The girls have basketball practice going on. Jordan has gymnastics on Monday nights. They both have Awana on Wednesday nights. They are also practicing for Quiz Bowl - which will be on the 18th. I have been asked to come and be a score keeper for that day.

Last weekend (1st) I went to the pumpkin patch craft show with my best friend. It is usually a wonderful craft show but this year it was awful. They had a few decent booths, but it was so much smaller than it usually is. It was probably half the normal size, or maybe even smaller than that. It only took us 30 min. to walk through it. That same Saturday Ed went to KS with some friends to go pheasant hunting.

That pretty much catches everyone up for now I think. Won't be long until Thanksgiving!! Hope everyone has a wonderful November!!
