Academic Banquet - May 18, 2010

Tuesday night was the girls' academic banquet. I'm so proud of both of them!! Jordan received the Triple A award (academics, attitude, and attendance). In order to receive this award you have to have at LEAST at 3.9 gpa. Jordan's is actually a little higher than that!! And of course your teachers have to vote for you because you have a good attitude, ect.. and you have to have not missed more than 5 days of school all year. I was so proud of Jordan for receiving this award!! Dakota and Jordan both received the Oklahoma Honor Society award and are now members of the OHS. In order to receive this award you have to be in the top 10% of your class. I was so proud of both of them. They have both worked hard to keep their grades up and to be so involved in EVERYTHING else going on at school too. They are quite amazing young ladies!!
The pics were taken before we left. Dakota was not about to wear a dress, but she looked very nice in her dress pants and shirt and shoes. It didn't take her long to get her shorts, t-shirt and hair up in a ponytail once we got home though! lol Jordan looked so pretty in her dress that night. Her and I both fell in love with this dress when we seen it. And her shoes were also black with white polka dots, so they were a perfect match for the dress!
Tomorrow is the last day of school, they will be getting out at noon. But they have softball practice right after that, so they don't get much of a break. First game is Tuesday, another one on Thursday and so the season begins. Not much of a summer break. Starting June 1st they will be in town by 7:00 a.m. 4 days a week for cross country, weight lifting and speed training and open gym. Not to even mention the 2 basketball camps and 1 cheerleading camp in June! lol Yep, gonna be another BUSY summer!!!

Jordan's First Trap Shoot for this season

Jordan's first trap shoot for this season went really well. In the qualifying round she broke 7 out of 10. This put her in the "B" class with two others who also broke 7 out of 10. The "A" class had 3 people who each broke 8 out of 10. "C" class had several others who broke anywhere from 2 out of 10 to 5 out of 10. When they paired up for a "buddy chip" shoot, Jordan and her partner, Luke Kraft, won that round!! But not without going into 3 shoot offs! lol They and one other team, Cody and Tyler, kept tying! All in all it was a great day and a lot of fun. Jordan's already looking forward to the next one on June 12th. Once again, she's the only girl shooting with all the guys, but she seems to like all the attention she gets I think! lollll

Dakota's Trip to OKC for Race 1:14

Dakota had a great time on her trip to OKC with some of the FCA girls. They attended the Race 1:14 and they were all very blessed by the experience. The girls got to meet Landry Jones and have their picture taken with him (I think Dakota tried to get as close to him as she could! lol). She also got his autograph. The girls spent the night and went swimming in the hotel and enjoyed some fun time together. On the way home Saturday, Heidi (FCA leader) took them to Eischen's to eat fried chicken. Eischen's was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Dakota likes to watch that show with me, so she thought that was pretty cool!! They got home around 5:30 or so that evening.

So Proud of my girls!!

Got a call from the school on Monday afternoon. They were calling to inform me that since my girls were in the top percentage of their class they were both being offered the opportunity to skip 8th grade math for next year and go straight to Algebra 1. Still not quite sure how they got so smart! lol We talked it over and Dakota decided right away that she didn't want to do it. She wanted to go ahead with 8th grade math next year. Jordan took a little longer to decide. She wanted to, but then she wasn't sure! lol But in the end, she opted to stick with 8th grade math also. I'm actually very pleased with their decisions. While I am SOOOOOOO very proud of them for being given the chance, I also know that they are so active and so involved in so many things at school that I just don't want them to feel overwhelmed with taking on a Freshman class. I want them to be able to keep up their grades, all their extra curricular activities and not feel totally stressed over a harder class. But I just had to brag on them for being given the chance to do this!! They are such great girls!!

Looks like we've had a slight change of plans for this coming weekend too. Dakota will still be going to Race 1:14 in OKC with the FCA group. But Jordan has decided to stay here and go to the first trap shoot of the season. It was a pretty tough decision for her, but she really doesn't want to miss any trap shoots this year, because they start keeping score at the first one and I think she's got a really good shot at being in the top 3 at least, if not better!! Plus I guess this gives the girls a chance to spend a little time away from each other. Funny thing is, I'll bet anything that they'll be texting each other the whole time. They crack me up, they get so mad at each other and want the other one to just go away, but when they are apart, they miss each other like crazy! lolll

I'll try and blog again on Monday and let everyone know how Dakota's trip went and how Jordan does at her trap shoot!! Have a great week everyone!!

May 2010

I can't believe it's already May! The girls only have 10 days of school left! They are out on Fridays from now until school is out and they only go 1/2 a day on the last day which is the 21st. This year has just flown by!!

The 8th the girls will be going to Amarillo to Wonderland park with their Awana group. They are really looking forward to that! Then on the 14th and 15th they will be going to OKC to the Race 1:14 seminar with their FCA group. It's for girls only and OU basketball coach Sherri Coale is speaking. I've heard her speak before and she is awesome!! The girls are really looking forward to that and to getting to hang out with friends and stay in a cool hotel and go swimming and go shopping at the mall!!

The 18th we will be attending the Academic/Teacher appreciation banquet at school. It's for the teachers and the students that have been on the principal's and/or superintendent's honor rolls all year. We're looking forward to that!! The 18th also marks the day that Ed and I met - 21 years ago!!!!

The girls are all signed up for softball this summer and practices will be starting soon I'm sure. Jordan will be continuing in gymnastics and Dakota will be continuing her pitching practices with her coach on Sunday afternoons!!

This past weekend was Pioneer Days in Guymon. We had a lot of fun. Ed and I drove the vette in the parade and the girls both rode on Jordan's gymanstics float. After the parade we went to Brent and Bess' house for a bbq and then off to the tractor pulls and the rodeo! It was a busy, but fun weekend!!

Jordan did awesome selling her Scentsy stuff for cheer camp!! She will be going in June for that. We had a meeting last night for the parents. And not only is Jordan going to be cheering next year, now Dakota will be the official Hooker Bulldog Mascot next year!! She's pretty excited. She didn't really want anything to do with being cheerleader, but thinks the mascot will be a lot of fun!! I'm so excited for both of them!!

I think that about catches me up for May! This summer is going to be an extremely busy one, but I'll try to keep caught up at least once a month! lol
